Is Buprenorphine (Suboxone) Treatment Right For You?

The epidemic of opioid abuse throughout the United States has greatly increased the number of opioid dependent individuals.  With a much larger population dependent on opioids, there is also a larger population of those seeking help.  In the past decade, prescription opioid drugs have become a major part of this national epidemic. The first step is to understand which phrase defines the person looking to begin recovery.  The person has either an "opioid dependence" or an "opioid addiction".  This is important to distinguish early on to pick the proper path for recovery. Opioid Dependence  - an individual with opioid dependence has been using opioids for an extended amount of time, and their body and mind has become accustomed to the drug and its effects (can acquire dependence to opioids in as little as 1-2 weeks).  If the opioid use is stopped or greatly reduced the body and mind will react negatively, the person experiences withdrawal symptoms.  Most individua

Control and Recover from Opiates - A resource for Opiate Addiction

Opiate addiction can plague anyone, it does not discriminate.  Millions of individuals across the world are battling this addiction day after day. It is relentless, and one of the worst  aspects of this disease is the lack of understanding from people outside the realm of opiate addiction. Not only is there a huge lack of understanding, but there is a stigma associated with this addiction that causes more harm to those looking to beat it. Doctors, politicians, judges, family and friends all have an idea of addiction in their mind that is NOT the reality of what addicts face on a daily basis. No one knows the struggle of opiate addiction but those who have lived it.

I am an addict, I have been for 5 years. I will tell my story in the near future, but what I want to touch on now is the help I hope to provide through this site. I would like to be a resource for anyone at any stage in opiate addiction. My hope is that I may be able to assist in providing people some light in the dark hole that is addiction. I have a vast knowledge of opiates, particularly opiate/opioid painkillers. Also, I have acquired extensive knowledge of opiate maintenance drugs (suboxone, buprenorphine, methadone). I have lived through countless episodes of withdrawals from various opiates and can provide knowledge to help through those tough times. If you fit any of the following statements, I am creating this site as a resource for you:

-Currently addicted to opiates and looking for help
-Currently dependent on prescribed painkillers and want to stop using them
-Currently experiencing withdrawals from opiates
-Seeking information about Suboxone or other maintenance opiates
-Currently dependent on Suboxone/Buprenorphine
-Clean from opiates but facing a new life without opiates
-Seeking a resource for Suboxone/Buprenorphine treatment (reducing costs, etc)
-Simply seeking information about opiate or opioid drugs

Thanks for taking the time to read, I will be adding a huge amount of resources over the next few weeks..

Take care
